THEATRE OF TEARS

The film Theatre of Tears explores the world of Shia-Islamic traditions. A triptych of generations depicts the nowdays Iranian society through their involvment in the traditional commemoration of Ashura.
This is spectacular passion play, a carnival in black, where personnal mourning is being released and dissolved into the collective sorrow for the martyrdom of the third Imam - Imam Hossein.
