SUBSELF
Proposta para Arte Interativa

2002-2004 / VHS / color / sound / 1S / 7' 40

this work is the result of a one-day life-based performance, settled down at an apartment in the city of rio de janeiro, early in 2002. the place in question was the experimental space rés do chão, runned by brazilian artist edson barrus. once invited to the second edition of the project rés do chão - where an artist occupies the whole place during one day - i suggested as a proposal to keep the place as it functions daily, as what should appear as the routine of that place. except that beside the computer in there i left a smith & wesson 38mm gun, along with 6 bullets, and a text archive opened on screen. so everyone could interact both with informations from reality and virtuality.
during the full day/night journey, people came in to check out what was going on in the ´exhibition`. as an interactive proposal, the core of the show was to get the participants vitally involved with the ´objects` on experience: the house, the text and the gun.
the text on the computer screen, aluado.doc, was a fluxus of information i´ve been putting down for so many years - trying a free translation to english, it´s title means something like «under-the-effects-of-the-moon.doc».
