Nataliya Ilchuk is a Ukrainian artist working in France. Currently she is researching the interrelation between economic migration and technological progress. Since the transmission of knowledge and experience began to be effectuated through machines rather than through human intermediation, the resulting automatization and mechanical reproduction lead to new forms of estrangement similar to those in the industrial era.
Instead of a conveyor mode of mechanical production of both goods and thoughts, inherent to the governing ideology of gaining profit, the methodological approach of Nataliya Ilchuk is based on the economy of resources (contribution to future instead of exploitation of present), where already existing archives become her main material of laconic and concise expression.
