PARIS RESURRECTION explores a city and the experience of living in it through various video and film forms through actual artist residencies. The concept of PARIS RESURRECTION was conceived from a still photo slides, using 36 slides in a roll to shoot a series of classical/avant-garde/modern/famous/decadent/community architectural appearances and partials. It presents a different way of viewing the buildings and historical sites of Paris in the past. The way of shooting is to surround and rotate according to the spatial relationship and position of the building; from far to near; to change the angle of up, down, left and right to present the various looks of the building. Then, using the cross-disciplinary creative method of cross-materials and media, using the interoperability between 35mm slides and 35mm movie films, the still images can enter the dynamic temporality of twenty-four frames per second, and then change the original film through the special effects of digital technology. The speed and rhythm of the new digital images generate new rhythms, and various digital images can be explored and deformed, thus breaking the boundaries and the original relationship between still photos and movies, making the audience have a new way to see Paris. The visual material of PARIS RESURRECTION is mainly collaged from still photo slides, hand-making the slides and re-arranging and pasting them on new clear film strips. The spatial relationship of the buildings in the original slides will be fragmented, collaged and reorganized, and the 15 historical sites will be stacked and merged with each other indistinguishably, endlessly entwining our visual experience.
