RAUCHEN UND SAUFEN

de Albert SACKL
1997 / couleur / sonore / 10' 00

Due to the use of two different time-lapse intervals, the four and a half hours it took to smoke 50 cigarettes, and the two and a half hours directly afterwards in which two liters of wine were drunk until the point of throwing up, both take about the same amount of time in this film. The last part - in contrast to the previous parts filmed with a hand-held sound camera in real time - shows what has happened to the just-about-come-to in a different light as well as its momentary result. The pretty awkward speech tries to recapitulate; the wobbly camera provides a look at the surroundings which had been out of view.
