To appear, appears, by Valentina Alvarado Matos and Carlos Vásquez Méndez, is the second publication in Ressò's expanded essay series, which began with Carolina Campos' book Interrogar el acompañar. To appear, appears proposes a visual and textual approach to the working methodology shared by both artists—focused on ‘exercises’ in translating words into images and vice versa—while raising questions that lie at the heart of the artistic works they develop together: the relationship between image and word, the performativity and haptic condition of the cinematic act, and working with the materiality of analog cinema, among others.

To appear, appears dialogues with the exhibitions el otro aquí and totalmente rostro, which were part of the programming of the Centre d'Art La Capella and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, respectively, during 2024.
