Luz Olivia is a filmmaker and visual artist from Oakland, California. Her works aim to dissect how similarity breeds affinity, while exploring how misunderstanding can be cause for intimacy to unravel. Luz's films have been described as explorations of what lurks beneath the surface of external persona, while analyzing how discrepancies in intricate personal ideologies have the potential to simultaneously generate attraction and spur conflict in the world at large.
She studied Philosophy & Voorheen Audiovisueel (Moving Image) before completing a BFA in Film at the San Francisco Art Institute. Luz's short films have screened & exhibited internationally at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, New People Cinema, Artists' Television Access, the Artifact Small Format Film Festival & Process Film Festival, amongst others. She is currently based in Los Angeles.
