Through performance, installation and publication, Florian Hecker (born 1975 in Augsburg, lives and works in Vienna), one of the most influential contemporary sound artists, works with synthesised sound, listening processes and the public's auditory experience to explore post-war compositional modernity, audiology and psychoacoustic discoveries.
Since 1996, Hecker has performed all over the world in the most prestigious concert halls and festivals for contemporary electronic music, and his work is regularly exhibited in international institutions. His Inspection project (Maida Vale Project) was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 to become the BBC's first live broadcast in binaural sound. His collaboration with Reza Negarestani, A script for Machine Synthesis, was programmed at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and at the Maison de la Radio in Paris in 2015. Formulation (FLV Project) was presented at the inauguration of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris in 2014.
Hecker has an extensive discography, published on the Editions Mego, PAN, Tochnit Aleph, Rephlex and other labels.
