After graduating from the Visual Arts School of Geneva in 1996, Gaëlle Rouard quickly became involved in a number of collective projects in Grenoble: the 102, an alternative space for the exhibition of experimental arts and, above all, MTK, an artist-run laboratory of which she was one of the principal actors. Having moved to the Trièves region, she progressively built up an arsenal of filmmaking tools for her personal productions, allowing her to make her rare and precious works. In the darkness of her laboratory, illuminated by the projector's flicker, films gradually emerge. When describing her work, she prefers to speak of live interpretation rather than performance.
