SET THEORY I-IV

by Simon PAYNE new filmmaker
2018 / HD / color-b&w / sound and silent / 1S / 19' 00

Aspects of this piece are related to terms used in the mathematics of Set Theory, e.g.: « union », « intersection », « difference », « complement », « subsets », « operations » and « groups ». In the first instance the piece involved producing and collating different sets of vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and curved graphic transitions. These were subsequently combined or sequenced using different rules that keep the conflict of planes, forms, tonal values and colour foremost.
