Edson Barrus's proposal alludes to different moments in the History of Art. We can remember the disturbing exuberance of The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, by Rembrandt and also the experiments of the body of some performers of the 1960s. Barrus synthesizes the human condition in Covid times with fine irony and reiterates how the body is mediated by economic power structures that regulate, isolate and segregate, but fail to prevent, in the end, enjoyment, and it is also painting! - O.M.
