BEECH TREE- ILLUMINATION

by John WOODMAN
2020 / HDV / color / sound / 1S / 26' 34

Filmed over a 10 year period from 2010-20, the film explores representation through changes of time, space and light in different seasons, weather conditions and times of day. The visual appearance of the tree is changed in transitions from shade to more intense degrees of illumination.

Observation of changes in the position of the sun at different times of day, the wind velocity and the movement of different types of cloud determined the strength and quality of light.
