CASTRO

by Tony WU
1996 / Super 8mm / b&w / silent / 1S / 9' 20

CASTRO is a Super-8mm queer experimental film filmed in San Francisco, USA in 1996. Inspired by the experimental films of American experimental film master Maya Deren, as well as the edification of European films, combined with the life experience in San Francisco, it is a surreal film about queer desire. The film uses found-footage concept, and shot Super-8mm film to remake the images from Fassbender's film QUERELLE. These found-footage images are cross-cutting with the live action shot images to form a film style that transforms reality and dream, virtual and real.
