Su Friedrich has been living and working in New York City since the late 1970s.
The formal and narrative diversity and richness of her works, the variety of the formats and sources she uses and of the genres and themes she explores, the persistence of her activism, and her independence were some of the reasons that led us to this unique artist in 2018.
Interviewed at home in Brooklyn, Su Friedrich comments on her production notes, photos, and film excerpts.
She takes us to a few of the meaningful places that have inspired her. We see her at work, speaking with her collaborators who, like Su, are fighting for women's emancipation and equality.
This portrait allows to reflect on the vibrant scene in which these artists have been active from the '80s to the present day, on their quests and conquests.
From celluloid to digital, Su Friedrich's artistic trajectory reveals her personal history and her views on society past and present.
