by Thierry VINCENS
1968 / 35mm / color / sound / 1S / 5' 30

GIRAGLIA was realized in 1968, to excerpts from Pierre Henry's Jerks composed for Maurice Béjart's ballet, Messe pour le temps présent, premiered the previous year at the Festival d'Avignon. In 1963, Maurice Fleuret wrote: "Thierry Vincens's cinematographic projections are more than a sumptuous abstract cinema number, more than a visual illustration of an inner world whose echo is transmitted to us by the music, they truly determine with the sound universe a lyrical synthesis whose persuasive force is unique in the history of art nouveau."
