HWA-SHAN-DISTRICT, TAIPEI

2000 / 16mm / color / sound / 1S / 13' 00

In April 1999 I joined an architectural workshop in Tai Pai. During this 10 day stay I shot the material for this film in the Center of Taipei called Hwa Shan District. It is a big area with closed factories, shut down railways, closed breweries, and out of use subway tunnels.
This «ghost town» as well as its sourroundings were the theme of my film: animals, plants, urban structures from this area are confronted with each other through the montage of the film. The sound and image metaphors reflect my very personal impressions with this area.
