In MOSAIC, Islamic and Jewish decorative and architectural motifs merge into images, drawings and photos of intercultural locations: Samarkand, Bukhara, Fez, Casablanca, Andalusia, Isfahan, Cairo, Istanbul...

MOSAIC begins with revolving domes, then tilts into vertical rotations, leading to restful plays of light; shadows glide slowly across the images, the motifs evoking the original geography. Finally, images come together to form moving mosaics. Since figuration is forbidden in the Judaic and Islamic religions, the non-figurative art of caligraphy, geometry and botanical motifs plays an essential role, illustrating the convergence of two neighboring cultures and their traditions. An artistic project for peace, crossing borders, dispensing with words and recalling past coexistence, the film expresses the hope of a rebirth, one day...
