Made for the opening piece of the DVD, «Seeing / Hearing / Speaking» a mulltimedia project with text, video, animation, and graphics realizing a sentence by French Philisopher, Jacques Derrida: «I hear myself at the same time that I speak.» This piece may be seen by itself.
What Derrida is concerned with is «Hearing / Speaking», but I extend it to «Seeing» Combining with other perceptions together.
This video deals with «Seeing» including the sentences as «I see you» «I am seen» and «I am not seen» and these words are surimposed over the pictures of a face, eyes and a face in the frames, etc. All the pictures are shot frame by frames. The video changes in quite rapid motion with the occasional stills inserted.
The title, «I am (not) Seen,» indicates both the positive and the negative cases with the parenthesis. (T.I.)
