SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY (Made with Georges Hsin) is a 3-part love story. A girl tells the story of her ex-boyfriend. He went abroad chasing homosexual love. Although she stayed home, both of them experience almost simultaneously unfettered sexual exploration.
The traditional narrative monologue is manipulated as a link to all the experimental segments.
Deformation, reframing, and composition make up the film - as the story goes on, the emotion of the original extremely abstract experimental footage becomes palpable and relatable.
The original footage, which has been treated to change its speed, was filmed by Tony Wu on his past journeys. This film also explores the differences in texture among different media. The raw materials include 8mm, 16 mm and DV.
