Originally shot on Super 8 film, Interval is a personal journey about shadows and memories, exploring notions of origins and of displacement. Using time-lapse photography, Suki recorded passages of time within her old ancestral house, now dilapidated in her former village in China. The dream-like film conveys the passing of time through a subtle play of light and shadows within interior and exterior spaces - metaphors for private (imaginary) and public spaces (reality).
Accompanying soundtrack is composed by Li-Chuan Chong from recordings of a Super 8 projector and folk songs sung by Suki's grandmothers.
