NUUK

by Thomas KÖNER
2004 / Mini DV / color / sound / 1S / 6' 30

Köner’s third video work shows a bay in Greenland enshrouded with ice and snow. Just as a careful listener can discover a whole range of beautiful, delicate sounds in the wast audible body that is formed mostly by the long undertones and sounds of howling icy winds, the seemingly motionless picture reveals the changes of the atmosphere, moving snowdrifts and frozen sea. By dedicating oneself to this patient and unspectacular observation, one is actually invited to observe time passing.
