DROMOSPHÄRE

by Thorsten FLEISCH
2010 / Mini DV / color / sound / 1S / 10' 08

A meditation on speed. The ephemeral phenomenon becomes palpable through an apparatus the filmmaker built himself. A speed sculpture begins a relativity drive along space-time avenues.
A research on the representation of four dimensional space-time, described by Albert Einstein in his theory of special relativity, led to the making of this film. Using a scale model of a sports car and a dolly synchronized to the shutter of the still camera, Fleisch has produced a capturing visualization of the phenomenon of speed with playful references to Paul Virilio and Jeremy Clarkson.
