Description: A violinist practices in the light of Vienna’s dusk. Silent, her gestures echo and resound, forming a quartet. The portrait ruptures and she takes our picture. She draws, we wait, and it turns out that our picture is of her. She offers us a small gesture: that we too are not posing in this portrait. She takes herself.
Statement: A portrait shows how one shows oneself as they want to be seen. There is a second half to every portrait, an audience, predictable in their own poses, “acting naturally”. The film Portrait is a portrait of portraiture.
