Pretty Dead is a an homage to the labyrinthical narratives of film noir. I wanted to reduce a feature's worth of story to a montage of constant surprise. A bigger story is implied, but the details of the narrative are left to the viewer's imagination. I've been calling it a Faux Noir film. The animation technique is hand drawn rotoscope from public domain period films and material I shot for this film. It required over three thousand water color paintings to create. The music was composed and performed by Shay Lynch. We talked a lot about Bernard Herrmann's scores and this track has a ghost of him in it's flavor.
