Screening introduced by Vivian Ostrovsky
The films in this second program, irrespective of their individual themes, strive to reveal reality using a camera or montage that alter the former to achieve their intent. Long takes treat the different subjects - a dying house, a building or a city kept alive by their rites, a suburban community suffering from a wind turbine's flickers - from a sociological angle. Games a woman plays reflecting on her own identity exemplify this as well through varied techniques such as juxtapositions of photo and moving image, frames within frames, and split screen effects.
