ATTACHMENTS consists of graphic, cinematic and sculptural elements. The camera is equipped with specially designed and constructed devices. Connected between the apparatus and the outside world, they both transform the depicted reality and become part of the image themselves. These constructions become independent objects with a sculptural character that have a specific, image-changing function and are the result of technical and creative research.
The series of silent films includes (among others): 3D printed and nickel plated instruments that distort the view in the process of filming, mirroring and abstracting it; glassblown objects that explore the refraction of light on transparent material, liquefying the image; fibermade lens extensions with which the camera not only pictures reality, but also feels, brushes or caresses it. Each of these objects plays with the visual to activate the senses, inviting associative narratives.
Antonia de la Luz Kašik (*1993 Graz) lives in Vienna. She develops projects that explore technical possibilities of optical devices for creating visual spheres and haptic tools for entering imaginary landscapes. As camerawoman, she collaborates with other artists.
