"In July 2022, a forest fire broke out on Monte Gambarogno in Ticino, Switzerland. Dry conditions and strong winds fueled the flames, which spread quickly across the steep terrain. More than 100 hectares of forest were destroyed.
The film WOUND EDGES is my own emotional response to this landscape, using 16mm footage hand-developed with the forest's ashes. Each frame bears physical traces of the land's memory, blending destruction with resilience. The film is amplified by the sound textures and field recordings of the forest itself – musical improvisations with burned wood, contact microphones placed on trees, and the presence of fire. Together, these elements sonically capture the forest’s wounds, honoring its raw, vulnerable state. WOUND EDGES invites viewers to reflect on human impact, impermanence, and the haunting beauty of the land’s transformation." – Yannick Mosimann
