“Academy Award-winning documentary and experimental filmmaker Hilary Harris was one of the most innovative cinematographers of his generation. Subject matter for his films spanned a focus on the great ships, a ballet dancer, the American highways, and a full-blown portrait of New York City made in time-lapse cinematography. Lesser known are his collaborations ‘The Nuer’ (1971) co-made with George Breidenbach and Robert Gardner and ‘Antigone: Rites of Passion’ (1990) shot for Amy Greenfield. All informed by his notions of ‘kinesthetics,’ in which images are structured around movement with the camera in constant motion. ” —Bruce Posner
