Language based structures are the principal characteristic of my film and video work (1977-2000). Language itself became a character on its own via calligraphy, live voice recordings and post production voice-overs. Another feature in the written narrative has been the fragmentary nature of piecing together evidence. For example, shifts from naming particular elements of a structure to the naming of a general result is
intended to recall the inherent animation going on all around us. Fragmentation also allowed for the use of phrases where the implied scale of one element turned the language into an exaggerated sculpture or alternately as a form of coded messaging.
