During the Vietnam War there was a special use of the loud sound of feedback to scare villagers, and often it was a first step towards summary executions: Sound as a kind of coercion.
With sound artist Mitsuaki Matsumoto, I tried to do something really peaceful with some closed loop systems, both in acoustics and video. The outcome looks like a mantra and a mandala. The action of this event (Around Stillness) was already done, then the film emphasizes the meaning and the shape of the devices.
