The work KOALA focuses on the view of a koala bear facing the beholder in half profile. The black and white photograph, on which the project is based, shows a stuffed koala bear. To the beholder the animal may seem weirdly animated in the way that it sits like a reflection, yet moves, which can be explained by how the image surface and the pixel structure of the digital photograph change. The accompanying music chords harden the usually cute appearance. - Dr. Brigitte Franzen
