TRÓPICO DESVAÍDO

A house burns. My father opens a drawing that echoes an explosion. I build new landscapes with my hands, crafting scenes from postcards of Venezuela found in Barcelona. Filmed between Venezuela and Spain, Trópico Desvaído traces a round-trip journey through fleeting landscape observations and notebook-like exercises tied to both territory and memory.
This visual essay collapses various modes of representation to explore the transformative processes of geographical and ethnographic inquiry. Through the fusion of landscapes—from the beach in Barcelona to the waters of Lake Maracaibo—Trópico Desvaído uses montage to weave together image and sound, preserving the essence of a “faded tropic” across the diaspora. It reflects a fractured sense of belonging, viewing each landscape through the filter of migration and memory.
