Nicolas Gautron is a graphic designer. Through his work, he advocates for an active and shared practice of graphic design and publishing, intervening in various situations and fostering collaborations. As a lecturer at ENSA Limoges, he co-leads the research and creation workshop "Expérience du territoire," which uses art and design to explore ways of supporting and contributing to current ecological and societal challenges.
He studied at art schools in Cergy and then Angoulême. There, he developed research on moving images, which led him to co-found the Mire association in Nantes for the dissemination of experimental cinema. His work then focused on graphic design and the deployment of images in space (within a book, on a stage, in an exhibition, on a building, in a city). He supports artistic and cultural projects as a graphic designer or scenographer (exhibitions at Fontevraud, Les Machines de l'Île in Nantes, the "Observer la ville" initiative in Nanterre, the Natural History Museum, etc.). He also develops signage and visibility systems in collaboration with architects and typographers, often involving user or public participation (Onyx in St-Herblain, Halle 6 in Nantes, etc.), sometimes as part of "1% artistique" schemes (Médiathèque d'Argentat, Maison de quartier Le Cadran in Rennes).
