“The son of a railroad magnate, Jerome Hill grew up under the gaze of professional cinematographers. He began making films at Yale and documented Grandma Moses and Albert Schweitzer. Hill completed the sophisticated autobiographical Film Portrait (1972) which looks back on the history of cinema as well as his own life.
