Alisa BERGER

German-Korean-Jewish-Ukrainian filmmaker Alisa Berger was born in 1987 in Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan, raised in Lviv, Ukraine. She studied film and fine arts at Academy of Media Art Cologne and Universidad Nacional de Colombia Bogotá. Her thesis film “The Astronauts' Bodies“ premiered in the feature film competition of German film festival Max Ophüls Prize, was nominated for Germans debut award FIRST STEPS and awarded New Directors Best Film award at International Film Festival Uruguay and Best Screenplay at Kinofest Lünen. 2019 Alisa founded with fellow filmmakers Anna Kruglova and Yana Ugrekhelidze the international film production company FORTIS FEM FILM which dedicated its work to increasing the visibility of women and their stories in film. Her artistic works have been presented in a wide variety of venues, festivals and museums worldwide. 2020 her work was included into the public collection of the Kunsthaus NRW museum. Alisa Berger lives between Tokyo and Essen.

Her work has been exhibited at BACC - Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, MMOMA Moscow, Anthology Film Archives, CCA - Center for Contemporary Art, European Media Art Festival, Videonale Bonn, San Diego Underground Film Festival, Dovzhenko Film Centre, KAI10 Arthena Foundation, KINDL - Centre for Contemporary Art, NCCA - Ural National Centre of Contemporary Art, Armenian Art Fair, HMKV Hartware MedienKunstVerein Dortmund, and many more.
