LA PLAGE
(version restaurée)

by Patrick BOKANOWSKI
1991 / 35mm / color / sound / 1S / 14' 00

Restoration completed in 2015. The 4K scan was made by the laboratory Eclair Group using the best available sources: namely, the original 35mm negative for the image and a 35mm magnetic soundtrack for the sound.
The entire restoration process was supervised and approved by Patrick and Michèle Bokanowski.

The project has been led by Light Cone with the aid of a selective grant for the digitization of cinematographic works belonging to cultural heritage by the CNC.

Composed of four chapters depicting optical modulations of scenes from a day at the beach, La Plage illustrates Bokanowski’s continued fascination (and experimentation) with the chromic, refractive, and reflective properties of glass to create films that redefine the materiality of celluloid and explore the plasticity of surfaces to transform everyday objects into work of art.
Music by Michèle Bokanowski.
