Fascination, uncertainty, fear: a school event and thus a restless, out of the ordinary hormonal state. Using clips from the 1990s' coming-of-age TV show MY SO-CALLED LIFE, Schmid reveals the stereotypical portrayal of the adolescent quest for identity. She formally connects the anxiety of puberty with an aesthetics of imperfection: gorgeous and garish pixelation resulting from interrupted downloads decomposes the video image – sound and narration are in a state of continual (auto)-dissolution.
