Between two scenes, SCHWERMUT AM FENSTER negotiates the (im)possibility of a cinematic representation of grief. By specifying technical data (camera, film material, distance, aperture and date), the film appears in this prosaic framing of the before and after as an experimental set-up with a model character. The story behind the portrait is not necessarily relevant. Meaning arises entirely in the tense expression and impression of the film images, which are kept in black and white.
