This essay film investigates the representation of Chineseness in films, especially in Hollywood films. 'Chinaland' is a word invented by the artist referring to Disneyland and Wonderland. It is not fettered by historical realities but appears as recurring patterns, forms, iconographies, archetypes and motifs. These heavily coded images and sounds are actually the projection of anxieties, fears and paranoia of “The West”.
