EXISTENCE III

Anacampsis fuscella is an endangered species of moth. The film is shot on one suburban block in the Finnish city of Tampere, where the insect lives invisibly among the city life. Construction is reducing its habitat patch by patch. Caring for the zigzag clover and nurturing biodiversity in these small green areas between buildings and streets is important to the moth’s survival.

Since increasingly large areas have been built up and covered by asphalt due to urbanization, in the future every possible square meter should be utilized for the preservation of natural diversity.

EXISTENCE III shows an example of how endangered species can live within urban settings and how their habitats can be integrated successfully into human infrastructure.

EXISTENCE is an experimental short film trilogy dedicated to insects and life.
