Along with Shedding and Le Corps Morcelé, this film forms a series, Unlikeness. The loop can be projected multiple times, as suits the situation. It can be screened before or after the other Unlikeness films.
Commissioned by Aspex and using visual metaphor to explore concerns about coastal pollution, the artist represents her body as unruly. The sea is a medium that entangles Smith in seaweed, bubbles and sunlight, and the artist’s body and hair becomes somewhat liquid (Vickie Fear, Aspex, Portsmouth)
