Tradition is the legacy of fire, not the worship of ashes.
"Gustav Deutsch's new film trailer for the Austrian Film Archive (Filmarchiv Austria) lasts less than a minute and shows images from the early days of cinema. These images have suffered, they look as if they've been burned, although it's the water that has damaged them. The soundtrack is by one of the great names in Viennese electronic music, Christian Fennesz. In it, we perceive cinema, fire and, at the same time, a new approach to museum relics. Sometimes, the joy of Austrian cinema lasts a whole evening, sometimes just 56 seconds.
