Born in Hal in 1919 and deceased in 2001, Edmond Bernhard, a filmmaker passionate about chess and philosophy, is a name that is synonymous with the history of Belgian cinema. A former professor at Insas, this refined man, one of the few Belgian film theorists to have practiced the art, influenced several generations of filmmakers, cinematographers, and editors through his unceasing questioning of his own thinking.
