Gerhard ERTL

Gerhard Ertl is an Austrian screenwriter, director, and producer. He studied experimental design, painting, and graphic arts at the University of Art and Design Linz. He forms the team Hiebler, Ertl with Sabine Hiebler. Their cinematography ranges from experimental films to feature films. Their work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including Ars Electronica, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, and the Biennale de l'image de Paris. After directing and producing several avant-garde films that were presented and awarded at the New York Film Festival and the Berlinale during the 90s, they turned to writing and directing feature films such as Nogo (2002), Anfang 80 (Coming of Age, 2011), and Chucks in 2015. Their latest film written and directed together, Sargnagel - der Film (Coffin Nail - The Film), was released in 2021.
