Paul de Mol (1947) is an artist specialising in both film and image making. He makes installations, films, writes and organises exhibitions from his hometown in The Hague, the Netherlands. As an artist, De Mol was initially interested in film and in 1971 he enrolled at The Hague Free Academy Psychopolis. There he worked - first as a student and then later as a teacher, once again with Frans Zwartjes. His first films are typical examples of the 'Hague School', of a group of students who gathered around Zwartjes and whose work was strongly influenced by Zwartjes' films. They are films in which 'research' is central. In addition to being a filmmaker, De Mol also manifested himself as a promoter of experimental film. In addition to all this, De Mol was also a lecturer at the Academy of Visual Education in Tilburg for many years until 2012.
