Peter Todd works with film both as a maker and curator, and in collaboration with other artists and filmmakers.
The films focus on a poetry of the everyday. Starting points can be something seen, a particular sensibility, or a dialogue emerging between some images. Working intuitively. Occasional images gathered. Sequences filmed in camera. These brought together in a final edit. Working with a clockwork 16mm Bolex camera.
The curating involves exploring the possibilities beyond a single film. These works develop from dialogues and engagement with other film makers and artists, often involved in self-made modes of working, and often present work that has been little seen. Curated works include Film Poems, Garden Pieces, Place of Work, retrospectives of Margaret Tait for the Edinburgh International Film Festival and BFI Southbank and the international touring programme of her work Subjects and Sequences for LUX, amongst others.
He has contributed to The Temenos restoration workshops organised by Robert Beavers in Berlin.
