Embodied Fires: The Fire Within takes the body as a medium and travels through a series of gestures in which the body is fragmented, multiplied, injured, sensuously stimulated, hypnotically disorientated, erotically entangled or in the verge of becoming other, of disappearing. If the body is a perspective, a way of seeing, a way of being, then how can the body see? Is seeing only an art of sight? How can one see beyond what meets the eye? How can cinema, in its cyborg alliance of body and machine, bridge, negotiate or flirt with what it sees, with what it experiences? This cosmology of gestures seek to negotiate ‘in between’, ‘between the space of the lips’, of the here and there, of the mine and yours. This ‘in between’ is a political space because it leads to a tuning of our perception otherwise, to a re-distribution of our senses. Protest becomes meditation, magic becomes sensation and the body becomes the site from which to think from, to feel from, to touch with, the site in which sight becomes touch.
