DESASTRES NATURALES: SPECIAL JURY AWARD AT FICVALDIVIA!

Desastres Naturales by Andrea Novoa received the special jury award at the FICValdivia (Valdivia, Chile). The jury that selected the winners of the Latin American competition was composed of Jeannette Muñoz, Chilean visual artist, Carlos Piñeiro, Bolivian director, and Malena Szlam, Chilean artist and filmmaker.

Desastres Naturales is the encounter of three films, three territories. A personal story that portrays, through experiments revealed by images and extracts from a diary, lived meetings and inhabited places filled by forces of nature, colors, incidents and struggles.

The film was supported by the Atelier 105, Light Cone's post-production residency program.

Andrea Novoa (1988)
Chilean filmmaker living in the Auracania Region, southern Chile.
She started developping her analog photography and laboratory work while studying in the Foto Arte School of Chile. Subsenquently, she received a Master in Film Essay from the International Cinema School of Cuba (EICTV), where she directed her first movies.
She's a member of the experimental film collective CEIS8 (Santiago) and the co-founder of Praeclara Imagen, production house and film laboratory (Araucania region).
