SCRATCH DIALOGUES #4

This online program is conceived in the form of a dialogue within our collection, with the intention of exploring possible relationships of analogy, filiation or interaction between the films.

In this edition, two feminine views on desire:

GRAPHOLETTI
by Françoise Thomas
1991 / 16mm / color / sound / 6'

"A thing or a being veiled by the light: we look at it with intensity and our eyes close to bring it back to us, so we watch the silhouette left by the light now printed inside our eyelids. The echo of the thing, of this being... She was caught in mid-geste, pulling a lock of hair away from the eye and her gaze leans out of the image, twice, three times..."

SAPPHO - POÈMES ET FRAGMENTS
de Marcelle Thirache
1992 / Super 8mm / color / silent / 15'

"Study of the fragment, the word, the written word... some are in French, others in Greek, without translation. For those who do not understand Greek, magic of the unknown, word-drawing, form in itself. The beauty of the texts means that they do not need images. It is not an illustrative film, it is a film about the fragment that reveals itself... reappears... a film based on the superimposition of images... a film in perpetual motion, nothing stops..."
