Atelier 105 is a residency program offered by Light Cone since 2014 with the support of the Île-de-France Region. This program allows artists who work in the field of experimental cinema to complete the digital post-production of their films in a professional technical context – a rare chance for those whose work often remains in the margins of more conventional support opportunities.
Among the projects hosted in 2021 and 2022, fourteen have been completed so far, a selection of which is presented here. Testaments to their times, these five films are imbued with a certain melancholy linked to the loss of reference points in one's environment, whether familial, social or natural. While some of them cause us to experience a temporal or spatial disorientation evocative of the deformation or erasure of memory, others examine the collapse of affective links within the family or the loss of cultural knowledge that, in other times, connected us to the living world – going as far as to suggest the disappearance of humanity itself. An observation that invites us to recreate our ties to the life that surrounds us.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers in attendance.
